Easily add extra cooling and color to your desktop with the Cooler Master Blue Ice Motherboard Northbridge heatsink and fan assembly. Adding a cooler for your Northbridge helps reduce overall temperatures inside your case, increasing performance while eliminating the need for your other fans to work harder to cool your motherboard. No tools are needed for attaching the copper heatsink to your motherboard; just a simple adhesive fastener is used. The assembly's aluminum extrusion fins draw heat away from the Northbridge, while the 40mm, 4,500rpm fan on top of the fins blows the heat out to your other system fans. Simply install the assembly, connect it to your motherboard's standard 3-pin fan connector and it's ready to go. Plus, three blue LEDs add a little extra color case's interior, perfect for those with see-through side panels.

Product Reviews

Great Cooler for Intel ICH8 Southbridge
The ICH on Intel boards run pretty hot. I used this to replace the passive southbridge heatsink on an Intel DG965OT ICH, and it dropped the temperature from around 75C to 60C with the stock adhesive thermal pad. The entire swap out took about 5 minutes. The Blue LED is plenty bright too.

It even has lights!
What is not to like. The product was shipped fast, was very cost effective, and works like a charm.

I used this to cool a chip on my MB where the old fan stopped working. The MB began to overheat, go into alarm, and reboot. After replacing the dead fan with this one, my problem is now solved.

I did not know this when I ordered the fan, but it has little blue leds on it. Nice touch for such a low price.

I had to use a rigged setup to get it to work for the chip I am cooling. I used double stick tape and a little gorilla glue on the edges. I also used a small dab of thermal paste.

functional and cool
Coolermaster's Blue Ice chipset Cooler-

Initially I ended up buying this part in a shipping error , but I required a new northbridge fan so I elected to keep it. Sure glad I did , this little heatsink was the solution to alot of the recent problems I have been having. My stock NB fan from EcS was failing and making alot of noise . Whats more it has now become apparent the stock fan and heatsink was passively cooling , because the Coolermaster fan is actually bringing temps down and stabilising my system . If your computer NB fan runs at a constant high speed , and occasionally "jitters" graphically , and you have replaced the thermal paste on both CPU and northbridge fans , chances are the fan is dieing and you need this part to replace it. Best feature I like ? The LED light tells me it's running without having to get a flashlight , and it's very complimentary to my case. It doesn't look like much and most northbridge fans are very plain but this one does the job, and quietly.
